Program Summary

For FY26, the Maryland Energy Agency (MEA) combined the former Energy Efficiency Equity Program and Solar Energy Equity Program into the Residential Energy Equity Program.

The program is a competitive grant for local government entities and non-profit organizations to support energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for residents with low-to-moderate incomes. The grant is broken into two Areas of Interest (AOI): AOI1: Energy efficiency scopes of work and can be utilized for renter-occupied and owner-occupied homesAOI2: Solar energy scopes of work and can be utilized for owner-occupied homes For AOI1, the minimum award is $150,000, the maximum award for first-time grant recipients is $400,000 per award, and the maximum award for applicants that have previously won an award has not yet been determined.

The program funding for eligible measures covers a maximum of $21,000 per residence. For AOI2, the minimum award is $30,000 and the maximum award is $1,500,000.
