Program Summary

This program operates with both local District and federal Department of Energy Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) funding.The Affordable Home Electrification Program can help households switch from natural gas and electrify home heating, water heating, and cooking systems. Qualified households can upgrade gas or oil HVAC system to energy-efficient electric equipment at no cost to the tenant or homeowner.

Equipment includes: Programmable thermostatsHeat pumps (ducted or ductless)Heat pump water heatersElectric induction stovesHeat pump clothes dryersEligible households are homeowners or tenants in the District that participate in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), District Solar for All (for households up to four individuals) (SFA), Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) or meet income limitations, based on household size.
