This performance-based incentive targets commercial, nonprofit, institutional, and government customers with demand metering who install energy storage systems behind their facility meter. Your system must be at least 20 kW, achieve 80% minimum round-trip efficiency, carry a 10-year warranty, be UL-listed, and transmit 15-minute interval data; it will earn $200/kW annually based on verified load reduction during summer peak dispatches, with total awards capped at $4,000–$600,000/year per project for up to 5 years. All projects require prior Trust approval and a formal contract with Efficiency Maine.

This performance-based incentive program compensates eligible demand-metered customers (commercial, nonprofit, institutional, government) at $200/kW annually for 5 years based on verified load reductions during summer ISO-New England peak demand conditions, calculated as average performance across 15 dispatches. Systems must be ≥20 kW, behind the facility meter, located in Maine, achieve ≥80% round-trip efficiency, carry 10-year warranties, be UL-listed, and support 15-minute interval data transmission; annual incentive awards are capped at $4,000–$600,000 per project and paid each fall following performance evaluation. Ineligible projects include grid-export configurations, facilities without interval metering capability, out-of-state locations, and residential/small business customers.
