Louisville Gas and Electric and Kentucky Utilities – WeCare for Apartment Building Owners
If you own an apartment building with at least 4 units and at least 50% of your tenants receive federal or state income assistance, you may qualify for WeCare—a free energy efficiency program offering LED bulbs, programmable thermostats, weatherization, insulation, and duct sealing to reduce energy costs. You must have at least one month of service with LG&E or KU for common area space and can request services no more than once every three years; contact the utility to apply and provide tenant notice for audit and upgrade access.

Program summary

4. A property owner may not request these WeCare services more than once in a three-year period.
5. The property owner is responsible for providing proper notice to each of the tenants regarding access to the occupied space for audit and potential energy efficient upgrades.
