Interconnection Procedures
Tennessee has no statewide interconnection standards, but if you want to connect a solar, small wind, biomass, or fuel cell system to the grid, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), which supplies Tennessee's electric utilities, has interconnection procedures you must follow. Start by contacting your local power company and reviewing TVA's procedures, which are posted under the Generator Interconnection tab on TVA's OASIS homepage.
Because Tennessee has no statewide interconnection standard, your customers' grid-tied systems are governed by TVA's interconnection procedures, with separate tracks for small generating facilities (20 MW or smaller) and large facilities (over 20 MW). These procedures cover solar PV, wind, biomass, and fuel cells for residential, commercial, industrial, and federal customers, so confirm which track applies and review the requirements on the Generator Interconnection tab of TVA's OASIS site before submitting a project.
Tennessee has no statewide interconnection rules; interconnection is handled through TVA procedures that apply to generators connecting to the utilities TVA supplies. The procedures split into small generating facilities (20 MW or smaller) and large facilities (larger than 20 MW), and are published under the Generator Interconnection tab on TVA's OASIS homepage. They cover solar PV, wind, biomass, and fuel cells across residential, commercial, industrial, and federal sectors.

Program summary
Tennessee does not have statewide interconnection standards. However, the Tennessee Valley Authority, which supplies electric utilities in Tennessee, does have interconnection procedures for small (20 MW or smaller) and large (larger than 20 MW) generating facilities. TVA interconnection procedures can also be found under the "Generator Interconnection" tab on the utility's OASIS homepage.
