Energy-Efficient Retrofits Program

This grant program is not directly available to homeowners; it funds energy-efficient improvements for local governments, public schools, and nonprofit organizations only.

You can support customer projects by partnering with eligible organizations (local government, K-12 schools, nonprofits) that apply for grants of at least $50,000 to install lighting, HVAC, programmable thermostats, solar PV (up to 60 kW ground-mounted), or solar thermal systems (up to 20 kW). Applicants must meet federal compliance requirements including E-Verify enrollment and SAM.gov registration before you can begin work.

The State Energy Program awards grants of at least $50,000 per recipient (approximately 8 grants anticipated) to eligible Alabama entities for energy-efficiency retrofits using DOE formula funding. Recipients must submit quarterly status reports, invoices on SEP forms, and final reports; applicants require UEI numbers, E-Verify MOUs, EINs, and SAM.gov and STAARS registrations to be eligible. The program targets local government, public K-12 schools, and nonprofits installing solar PV/thermal, HVAC, lighting, and thermostat upgrades.
