Austin Energy - Workplace EV Charging Station Rebate Program

Austin Energy offers rebates up to $700 for Level 1, $3,000 for Level 2, and $5,000 for DC Fast Charging stations at your business, non-profit, or multi-family property—but rebates cannot exceed 50% of your total equipment and installation costs. You can install up to six stations per year per address; apply online within 180 days of installation with your utility account number, invoice, and proof of City of Austin inspection (if required). Customers benefit from attracting EV drivers, positioning their business as sustainable, and earning points toward Austin Energy Green Building ratings by installing compliant OCPP-standard chargers. As a licensed electrician or contractor, you must ensure installations follow the National Electric Code, pass City of Austin inspection where required, install proper signage and protective barriers, and meet manufacturer requirements for final setup; station upgrades, leases, and make-ready work are not eligible for rebate.

This first-come, first-served rebate program provides incentives for new OCPP-compliant EV charging hardware (not upgrades or leases) installed at Austin Energy commercial accounts, capped at 50% of costs and six stations annually per address. Applicants must submit documentation within 180 days post-installation including invoices, electrician details, permit numbers, and insurance certificates; program funding is limited and subject to change without notice. Target audience is Austin Energy commercial customers (businesses, non-profits, multi-family properties) seeking to support local EV adoption among the region's 45,000+ registered electric vehicles.
