Austin Energy - Multifamily EV Charging Station Rebate Program

Austin Energy rebates up to $700 for Level 1, $3,000 for Level 2, and $5,000 for DC fast charging stations at multifamily properties, capping rebates at 50% of equipment and installation costs. You must hire a licensed electrician, complete installation with City of Austin inspection (if applicable), and submit your rebate application within 180 days with proof of paid invoice and required photos showing proper signage and protective bollards or wheel stops.

You can install OCPP-compliant EV charging stations for multifamily customers seeking rebates; the property owner applies for rebates after your installation is complete and passes inspection. All work must follow National Electric Code, satisfy manufacturer requirements for final setup, include required "EV Charging Only" and tow-away signage, and provide accessibility protection; DC fast chargers must be open to the public. Licensed electricians can join Austin Energy's contractor directory by emailing Plug-In Austin and agreeing to the Code of Conduct and Ethical Requirements.

This rebate program covers new, OCPP-compliant Level 1, Level 2, and DC fast charging hardware at multifamily properties with Austin Energy commercial accounts, excluding station upgrades, leases, and make-ready work. Maximum six stations per address annually with a 180-day application window post-installation; funding is limited and first-come, first-served. Each address receives one application per fiscal year (October–September), and rebates cannot exceed 50% of verified equipment and installation costs; applicants must submit itemized paid invoices, permit numbers, insurance certificates, and installation photos.
