Austin Energy - EV Charging Station Rebate Program

Austin Energy covers 50% of the cost to buy and install a Level 2 (240V) home charging station, with rebates up to $1,200 for Power Partner EV-compatible equipment or up to $900 for non-compatible stations. To qualify, you must be an Austin Energy customer with a plug-in electric vehicle, hire a licensed electrician, obtain a City of Austin electrical permit and inspection, and submit your application online with proof of EV ownership/lease and paid invoices after installation is complete.

Licensed electricians can install Level 2 charging stations for Austin Energy customers and help them access significant rebates (up to $1,200) on qualified installations. You must comply with all program requirements including Austin Energy's Code of Conduct, use UL/ETL/cETL-listed equipment, and meet City of Austin permitting and inspection standards; Austin Energy maintains a directory of qualified installers and customers choose their contractor independently.

This rebate program incentivizes residential Level 2 EV charging adoption in Austin Energy's service territory by reimbursing 50% of equipment and installation costs (capped at $1,200 or $900 depending on Power Partner compatibility). Funding is limited and distributed first-come, first-served; participants must be active Austin Energy customers with verified EV ownership/lease, and Austin Energy retains the right to install grid-management devices and perform demand-side management cycling on enrolled units, with data collection and participant surveys required.
