Electric Vehicle Charging Station Rebate Program

Install a shared EV charging station at your commercial facility or multi-unit residential property and receive a rebate from Hawaii Energy—funds are allocated through June 30, 2025 with remaining availability subject to first-come, first-served processing. Submit your application with required documentation (invoices, photos, product specs, and W-9 form) within 12 months of activating your station; advance communication with Hawaii Energy is recommended to confirm eligibility. If your property qualifies as affordable housing serving families at or below 100% AMI, you may also receive an additional bonus of $5,000 per Level 2 station (existing developments) or $1,500 (new developments).

Market Hawaii Energy's EVCS rebate program to commercial and multi-unit residential customers seeking to install shared charging infrastructure—the program covers Level 2 stations (minimum 3kW output) and DC fast chargers (minimum 40kW output) that serve multiple tenants, employees, customers, or fleet vehicles. Customers may apply for unlimited Level 2 rebates and up to two DC fast charger rebates per site; Hawaii Energy maintains a list of approved Clean Energy Allies contractors. Guide customers to submit complete applications—including equipment specifications, paid invoices, installation photos showing activated units and reserved signage, and W-9 forms—within 12 months of installation activation, as rebates are processed first-come, first-served and funding is limited.

This rebate program, funded by Hawaii State Legislature appropriations ($892,500 total from Act 164 with $292,729.26 remaining as of January 24, 2025), targets commercial and multi-unit residential properties installing networked EVCS serving shared users; applications are processed first-come, first-served and expire 12 months after station activation. Ineligible installations include single-user reservations and single-family residences; affordable housing properties serving families at ≤100% AMI receive bonuses ($5,000 for Level 2 at existing developments, $1,500 at new ones).
