Light-Duty Motor Vehicle Purchase or Lease Incentive Program

You can get a rebate for purchasing or leasing a new light-duty electric vehicle (including plug-in hybrids), hydrogen fuel cell, or natural gas/propane vehicle in Texas if you acquire title and registration in the state on or after September 1, 2025. To apply, gather your vehicle title or registration, purchase/lease agreement, proof of payment, and an IRS W-9 form, then submit electronically through TERP Online SUNSS once you have possession of the vehicle.

You can help customers access rebates for qualifying alternative-fuel and electric vehicles by ensuring they meet eligibility (vehicles under 10,000 GVWR purchased or leased new, with title and registration in Texas). For conversion system work on CNG or LPG vehicles, you'll need to provide a conversion invoice, proof of payment, and EPA certification documentation as part of the customer's grant application package.

LDPLIP offers rebates for light-duty vehicles (≤10,000 GVWR) powered by electric drive, hydrogen fuel cell, CNG, or LPG, plus conversion systems, to individuals, corporations, nonprofits, governments, and other entities statewide. Applicants must purchase or lease new vehicles on or after September 1, 2025, and apply electronically with title/registration, proof of payment, and a signed W-9; the program tracks eligible vehicle lists and manages applications through TERP Online SUNSS.
