NYTVIP helps commercial and nonprofit fleets in New York State purchase or lease medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission electric vehicles and equipment with voucher incentives that reduce upfront costs. Voucher amounts vary by vehicle class, fleet size, location in disadvantaged communities, and whether you scrap an older diesel vehicle—consult the Program Implementation Manual or contact NYSERDA at the Voucher Help Center (866-595-7917) to determine your fleet's specific incentive amount and eligibility. Note that as of late 2025, Class 3-8 vehicle funding is fully subscribed, though Non-Road Equipment funding remains available.

NYTVIP vendors can help fleets unlock substantial per-vehicle incentives ranging from $50,000 for Class 3 vehicles to $425,000 for Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, with additional bonuses available for disadvantaged communities and vehicle scrappage. Dealers and manufacturers must register with the program, submit valid purchase orders and eligibility documentation through the NYSERDA portal, and work with fleets to ensure compliance with stacking rules—voucher amounts cannot exceed the vehicle's base cost and cannot be combined with certain other NYSERDA grants, FTA Lo-No grants, or EPA DERA funding, though they may be stacked with federal tax credits, utilities' make-ready programs, and most state/local grants if the total remains under the vehicle cost.

NYTVIP operates three distinct funding tracks with $35 million for Class 3-8 zero-emission vehicles, $18 million for non-road equipment, and dedicated transit bus incentives for five specified upstate agencies; voucher calculations vary by vehicle weight class, domicile location, fleet size, and diesel scrappage, with per-vehicle caps ranging from $85,000 to $425,000 and equipment incentives at 35% of base cost plus 10% DAC bonuses capped at $100,000 per unit. The program restricts individual purchasers to $2 million in claims per 12-month period (resetting upon project completion), prioritizes disadvantaged community benefits through locationally-based bonuses, and requires fleets to provide valid purchase orders and complete applications through the Salesforce portal with dealer support; Class 3-8 vehicle applications as of December 2025 are waitlisted pending new funding availability.
