Program Summary

The Montgomery County regulation requires that any County-build or County-funded buildings over 10,000 square feet in size that are built after September 2008 must receive a silver rating in the appropriate LEED rating system as certified by the Green Building Council. County building is defined as any covered building where the County government has financed 30% or more of the cost of new construction, or any modification to more than 50% of the building's gross area. Montgomery County also has a green power purchasing requirement that is summarized in a separate DSIRE post.
