City of Denton - Green Power Purchasing

The City of Denton met 59% of total electricity consumption (18,000,000 kilowatt-hours) of municipal facilities with electricity generated by renewable energy. Denton ranked 24th on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Green Power Partner listing of local government green energy purchase in 2014. On Feb. 6, 2018, the City Council adopted the Denton Renewable Resource Plan (DRRP), which set a goal to have 100 percent of Denton's energy load under renewable energy contracts by 2020.
