Large Energy Users Program

This program is for large commercial and industrial facilities with annual energy costs exceeding $5,000,000 and peak demand of at least 400kW (electric) or 4,000 DTh (gas). You can receive rebates for custom energy efficiency and combined heat and power projects based on projected savings, capped at the lesser of annual savings valued at $0.33/kWh plus $3.75/therm (or $0.16/kWh for lighting), 75% of project costs, or $4,000,000 per entity per year. The Large Energy Users Program targets facilities with at least $5,000,000 in annual energy costs and significant peak demand. You can help customers apply for incentives on custom energy efficiency and CHP projects; incentives are calculated based on projected energy savings and capped at the lesser of the savings calculation, 75% of project cost, or the annual entity cap. Projects must exceed a $100,000 minimum incentive threshold or they will be redirected to other C&I programs.
This incentive program serves large commercial and industrial entities meeting strict thresholds ($5M+ annual energy costs, 400kW or 4,000 DTh peak demand) by offering rebates for custom energy efficiency and CHP measures. Incentives are capped at the lesser of three metrics: $0.33/kWh plus $3.75/therm ($0.16/kWh for lighting), 75% of total project cost, or $4,000,000 per entity annually, with a $100,000 minimum per project. Program summary
Large Energy Users program offers financial incentives to eligible large commercial and industrial facilities in the State to self-invest in energy efficiency and combined heat and power (CHP) projects. The application can identify the custom energy efficiency measures in their facility and obtain incentives based on projected savings. Incentives from this program are only limited to energy efficiency measures. New construction, renewable energy projects, rehabilitation, and other maintenance energy saving projects are not eligible under this program.
Eligibility
Large commercial and industrial buildings must meet following qualifications to be eligible for the program:
- To qualify, eligible entities must have incurred at least $5,000,000 in total annual energy costs (on a pre-sales tax basis, aggregate of all buildings/sites) over the prior fiscal year.
- Average billing peak demand of all facilities must meet or exceed 400kW for electric and 4,000 DTh for gas.
The program has a minimum incentive commitment per FEEP of $100,000. Projects with incentives below this threshold will be redirected to other programs for C&I customers.
Program Description
Maximum incentives are capped per entity lesser of:
- Annual project savings at $0.33/kWh plus $3.75/therm for non-lighting measures and $0.16/kWh for lighting measures
- 75% of total project cost
- not to exceed the NJCEP entity cap of $4,000,000 per entity per fiscal year
