City of Phoenix - Renewable Energy Goal
Phoenix residents can access renewable energy through the city's sustainability initiatives, which aim to expand clean energy access to the community alongside municipal solar installations and energy efficiency programs. Details on available incentives and programs for residents can be found through the city's Office of Sustainability and Energy Access Plan.
Contractors can participate in solar and renewable energy installations on city facilities through public-private partnerships and city-sponsored projects that support Phoenix's renewable energy deployment goals. Opportunities are coordinated through the city's Office of Sustainability and Public Works Department.
The City of Phoenix's renewable energy goal targets 15% renewable electricity consumption by 2025 through city-owned and city-sponsored installations, primarily via public-private partnerships, with progress tracked through periodic council reviews and milestones. This goal integrates into the broader 2050 carbon neutrality Climate Action Plan, developed collaboratively by the Environmental Quality Commission and Public Works Department.

Program summary
In 2008, the Phoenix City Council approved a renewable energy goal for the city. The city aims for 15% of the electricity used by the city to come from renewable energy sources by 2025. This goal mirrors Arizona's Renewable Energy Standard of 15% of electricity from renewable energy by 2025. The city plans to achieve this goal through renewable energy installations that are either city-owned or city-sponsored, primarily through public-private partnerships. The city council will periodically review progress towards meeting the goal and will set milestones to track progress. The Environmental Quality Commission and Public Works Department collaborated to develop the recommendation.
Phoenix recently expanded its sustainability goals, which now include a goal of becoming a carbon neutral city by 2060. The renewable energy goal is now a part of the city's broader environmental sustainability goals. A reference to the renewable energy goal may be found here. Up to date details on their Climate Action Plan can be found here.
