Missouri Rural Electric Cooperative - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

If you're an MREC member, you can get rebates on energy-efficient equipment like heat pump water heaters (up to $1,050), geothermal heat pumps ($400-$750 per ton depending on type), air source heat pumps ($300-$500 per ton), ductless mini splits ($250 per outdoor unit), and programmable thermostats (up to $50). After installing qualifying equipment in your permanent residence, contact MREC for an inspection and submit the rebate form with your purchase receipt and required equipment specifications to receive your rebate check.

MREC's rebate program creates customer incentives for high-efficiency heat pumps and water heaters—geothermal systems must meet minimum EER ratings and sizing via Manual J, air source heat pumps require Energy Star certification and minimum HSPF2 of 8.1, and heat pump water heaters need 50% cost coverage documentation. You'll need to ensure customers meet insulation minimums (R38 ceiling, R13 walls), provide AHRI certificates and purchase receipts with all required unit specifications, and coordinate inspections with MREC—note that dealers and distributors cannot claim rebates themselves, only end-use residential customers can.

This rebate program incentivizes residential MREC members to adopt heat pumps and efficient water heating through tiered per-ton and per-unit payments ($750/$400 per ton for geothermal, $500/$300 for air source, $1,050 cap for heat pump water heaters, $250 for ductless units).
