Volusia County - Green Building Program

Volusia County has established a new incentive program that fast-tracks permits and reduces fees for the construction and remodeling of green buildings. The Green Building Program is voluntary but available to all new residential or commercial construction or remodeling and land development. Rebate levels for application fees are as follows: Residential building permits: $600 Commercial building permits: $1,500 Land development applications: $2,500 To apply, interested parties should submit an application available through the Volusia County Building Department. Once the project has been completed, third-party certification must be submitted to Volusia County. Acceptable third party certifications include the Florida Green Building Coalition, United States Green Building Council LEED Program, National Association of Home Builders National Green Building Program, Energy Star Certified Building, and Green Globes System. If the project is accepted by the county and the third-party, a rebate check will be provided.

The program will expire in 2012 or when the funds are expended.
