Program Summary

Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative's (SMECO) Non-Residential Energy Efficiency Program provides technical assistance and a range of incentives to commercial, industrial, municipal and institutional customers who employ energy-efficient measures in new and existing facilities.

The program offers prescriptive rebates for specified energy efficiency measures, while custom incentives are offered for applications that are not covered by the prescriptive program. The New Construction program offers financial incentives to incorporate additional energy efficiency during building design. Eligible measures include HVAC systems, lighting, building controls, vending machine controls, variable frequency drives, and commercial refrigeration. Under both the prescriptive and custom programs, incentives may cover up to 75% of the incremental cost for new construction and replacement of equipment. Some rebates vary by size, efficiency, and type of measure employed. Equipment must meet program guidelines listed on the website above. Interested customers should check the website to ensure eligibility and view the program overview.
