City of Bellingham - Green Power Purchasing

In July 2006, the Bellingham City Council adopted a policy to begin purchasing 100% green power for all facilities owned by the city -- one of the most aggressive such goals in the United States. This amounts to approximately 25,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of green power per year. The city has also actively promoted the adoption of renewable energy by community members.
