Program Summary
In 2005, Nassau County adopted a resolution to purchase 25% of the county's electricity from renewable, carbon-neutral sources by 2010. The county has also developed a long-term Energy Policy and Action plan. The full text of Nassau's Energy Policy and Action Plan, which contains numerous elements beyond renewable energy procurement, is available here. Nassau County uses more than 29 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green energy annually from solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, biogas and low-impact hydropower.
