Program Summary

As of March 24, 2010, the reservation period for the second round of funding is closed. Additional rounds of funding are not anticipated. The Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy (DMME) is utilizing up to $15 million over three years to provide rebates on solar thermal heating, solar photovoltaic (PV) installations and small wind systems. The funding was made available from the State Energy Program allocation from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The two-step application includes a rebate reservation request. This request is made via the online submission portal found at the DMME's website. Rebate recipients are subject to audits and certification. Applicants will be required to submit documentation of work in addition to the completed reservation form and rebate application. In general, all applicants are required to comply with local, state and federal building, fire and safety codes and are responsible for obtaining building permits (as required) or other permits/documentation that may be required (in the case of historical structures or in the case that their project will be subject to review under the National Environmental Policy Act). Interested applicants must read through the Terms and Conditions carefully, as there are many additional requirements and stipulations to consider. *CEC-AC is a system's capacity rating based on PVUSA Test Conditions (PTC) and inverter efficiency.
