Program Summary

Puget Sound Energy’s multifamily retrofit program provides rebates and grants to help owners and managers of multifamily properties—such as condominiums, townhomes, and other buildings with at least five attached units—make energy and water efficiency upgrades. Eligible improvements include in‑unit and common area upgrades such as lighting, heating systems like heat pumps and boilers, windows, thermostats, ventilation, insulation, water heating, appliances, and custom projects. Properties located in Tribal communities, those built before 1986, properties with tenants receiving rental assistance, and those classified as affordable or mixed income are eligible for the highest rebate amounts .To participate, property owners or managers must be current PSE electric and/or gas customers and complete a free eligibility assessment before starting improvements. Rebates may cover measures such as free direct‑install upgrades, rebates of up to $75 for smart, digital, or line‑voltage thermostats, up to 90 percent coverage for lighting upgrades, rebates on heat pump water heaters and appliances, and up to 70 percent of costs for custom projects such as central boilers. Note that, in compliance with state law, PSE no longer offers rebates for natural gas appliances or equipment installed on or after August 10, 2025. Projects installed and invoiced on or before August 9, 2025 may still qualify if the rebate application is submitted by October 10, 2025.
