Program Summary
San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) encourages home builders in the San Diego area to construct energy efficient homes through their Residential New Construction Energy Efficiency Incentive Program. There are several ways that builders can take advantage of this program. Under the performance-based Home Advantage Program, builders are encouraged to construct residences which are at least 15% more efficient than Title 24 standards. Single-family homes, multi-family homes and multi-family high rises are eligible to participate. Single-family homes built to this level of efficiency will also qualify as Energy Star Homes. Builders of these residences will be included in a national and statewide Energy Star campaign. There are two levels of participation in the performance-based program: Tier 1 for buildings which exceed Title 24 compliance by 15% for single or multifamily new construction; and Tier 2 for buildings which exceed Title 24 compliance by 35% to 40% in the cooling budget for single or multifamily new construction.
