Program Summary

The City of Tallahassee Utilities allows net metering for residential and commercial customers that generate electricity with photovoltaic (PV) systems up to 100 kilowatts (kW) in capacity. Any customer net excess generation (NEG) is carried over to the customer's next bill at the utility's retail rate for a moving 12-month period. At the end of this 12-month period, any remaining customer NEG is granted to the utility without compensation for the customer. The City of Tallahassee Utilities has developed an interconnection agreement for PV systems up to 100 kW. All interconnected PV systems and inverters must comply with relevant UL and IEEE standards, and a manual external disconnect switch is required. Customers must have at least $100,000 in general liability insurance for personal and property damage.
