Program Summary
HB 7432, signed in June 2007, requires Connecticut's two investor-owned electric utility companies to offer an electricty conservation program during the summer of 2007.
The program compares a customer's electricity usage during the period from July 1, 2007 to September 30, 2007 to their usage during the same time period in 2006, and rewards customers who acheive a reduction of at least 10%. The comparison must be adjusted accordingly for weather differences between the two years, and the customer must have resided in the same dwelling for both years. Successful participants will receive a credit on their electric bills for a certain percentage determined by the amount of savings they achieve. For customers who reduce their usage by 10%, a 10% credit will be awarded. Similarly, a savings of 15% will earn a 15% credit, and a 20% reduction will be rewarded with a 20% credit. Credits will appear on customer's electric bills for October 2007.
