Cedarburg Light & Water Utility - Commercial Energy Efficiency Rebate Program
Administered by Cedarburg Light and Water Utility
Cedarburg Light & Water Utility's Commercial Energy Efficiency Rebate Program offers cash incentives for commercial, industrial, and agricultural customers who reduce energy consumption and peak-period power demand through efficiency improvements. Contact Fred Rambert or request a pre-approval inspection by an energy engineer from Wisconsin Public Power Inc., who will analyze your facility and recommend cost-effective measures; incentive amounts are determined case-by-case based on verified savings.
The program accepts large commercial, industrial, and institutional projects that reduce annual energy consumption by 100,000 kilowatt-hours or more and/or reduce on-peak demand by at least 20 kilowatts during peak summer months (2–5 p.m., June–September). You must submit a detailed Bid Application with project background, vendor proposals, baseline documentation, verified savings estimates, financial need statement, and implementation timeline during open bidding cycles; up to $200,000 in incentive funding is available per bid cycle, with higher rankings awarded to comprehensive projects combining multiple efficiency measures.
This RFP-based rebate program, operated by Cedarburg Light & Water Utility and WPPI Energy, targets large commercial and institutional customers across the WPPI service territory. The program provides up to $200,000 per bid cycle (e.g., Fall 2026 cycle: applications due September 18, awards October 16) for projects meeting strict energy-savings thresholds; staff evaluate applications on project comprehensiveness, vendor quality, baseline accuracy, savings verification methodology, and financial justification to allocate limited rebate funds to the highest-value efficiency investments.

Program summary
Cedarburg Light and Water Utility provides incentives for commercial, industrial and agricultural customers to increase the energy efficiency of eligible facilities. Upon request, Cedarburg Light and Water Utility will send an energy engineer from their power supplier, Wisconsin Public Power Inc., to inspect the facility and suggest cost-effective ways to reduce the customer's monthly energy bill. They will provide an in-depth analysis of the operation’s energy use and a detailed report outlining specific recommendations and estimated savings. If the project will reduce energy consumption and power demand during peak periods, the customer may be eligible for a cash incentive. To qualify for an incentive, customers should receive pre-approval from Cedarburg Light & Water prior to implementing any efficiency improvements. Many types of efficiency improvement projects are eligible, and the incentive amount will be determined on a case-by-case basis. For more information, please contact Fred Rambert.
The Request for Proposals (RFP) for Energy Efficiency program is designed to encourage investment by large commercial and industrial utility customers in energy efficient improvements. Up to $200,000 of incentive funding is available for each bid cycle. The RFP seeks large efficiency projects that reduce annual total energy consumption by 100,000 kilowatt-hours or more, or that result in 20 kilowatts or more of electrical demand reduction.
Wisconsin Focus on Energy offers financial incentives to eligible business customers for installing qualifying energy efficiency measures. These measures include a variety of technologies including energy efficient lighting, motors, compressed air, and HVAC equipment. To find out more click on link provided.
