Program Summary

Denton Municipal Electric pays residential and small commercial customers to reduce energy demand and consumption in order to reduce the utility bills of DME customers, reduce peak load, reduce emissions, and promote energy conservation.

The program offers rebates on the electric service bills of DME retail customers and cash incentives to builders, and applicants can qualify for multiple incentives simultaneously. Rebates are available for energy efficiency improvements, electric vehicles, solar pv and other standard offers. An application form must be completed and sent to DME within 30 days of installation of the energy efficient upgrades. The energy efficiency upgrades must be deemed measurable and verifiable through the standards approved by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), which requires that complete information be recorded for each installation. The installer that documents approved energy efficient upgrades must be registered as a DME Authorized Installer. After submitting a Request for Payment, customers can expect to receive the rebate credit in 4 to 10 weeks. The Program will be in effect each fiscal year beginning on October 1. Confirm with the utility that rebates are available before making investments. For full details, see the program manual available on the utility's web site.
