Program Summary

The Indiana Department of Commerce offers zero-interest loans for school corporates, public libraries and political subdivisions to implement energy savings improvements into existing facilities and design energy efficiency measures into new buildings. To apply for the loan, interested applicants will submit a two-page pre-proposal to the Indiana Department of Commerce. The Energy and Recycling Office in the Department of Commerce will discuss the project with the applicant to determine if a loan application should be submitted. Loan applications are submitted to the Recycling and Energy Development Board (REDB) at least 14 weeks before the REDB's quarterly meeting. Applications will be judged on four equally weighted criteria - energy savings, pollution prevention, practicality and technical feasibility and need for assistance. Ineligible projects are: vacant, unused or condemned buildings; building that are not heated or cooled; and school stadiums. For more information about this loan program and how to submit an application, visit the program website above.
