Program Summary
The West Virginia Development Office and the Office of Economic Opportunity's Weatherization Assistance Program sponsors the Energy Efficiency in Historic Buildings Program to assist in the preservation, operation and maintenance of historic buildings throughout the state by reducing their energy costs. Qualifying buildings must be less than 4,000 square feet and, individually or in a district, on the National Register of Historic Places. Efficiency improvements with an energy payback of less than two years require no matching funds from the owner. Improvements with a 2-8 year payback require a 20% match by the building owner. Contact the program coordinator to begin the application process.
