CO Rebate Program commercial local government nonprofit residential schools federal government agricultural institutional

Administered by: Holy Cross Energy

Quick Summary

Holy Cross Energy offers rebates for rooftop solar and other renewable energy systems installed at your home; starting April 1, 2026, new solar installations receive $100 per kW up to 25 kW, though systems approved by March 31, 2026 can lock in higher rates if you apply for the incentive by August 31, 2026. You must get an HCE Approval Letter before construction, submit a Generator Interconnection Application, and your system's annual output cannot exceed 200% of your previous 12 months' electricity use. You'll continue to receive monthly electric bills and be credited for excess power sent to the grid under net metering, with a maximum incentive of $30,000 per 12 months and no payment exceeding 40% of your installation cost.

Program Summary

Note: Effective April 1, 2026, all new solar net metered interconnection applications will receive a flat incentive of $100 per kW, up to 25 kW.

Existing and new interconnection applications approved by March 31, 2026, can receive the existing incentives, as long as they submit the incentive application by August 31, 2026.Holy Cross Energy's WE CARE (With Efficiency, Conservation And Renewable Energy) Program offers an incentive for customers who install renewable energy generation for net metering at their premises. Eligible renewable energy technologies include wind, hydroelectric, photovoltaic, biomass, and geothermal sources. IncentiveThe incentive offered varies by the size of the renewable energy system as follows:$250 per kW for the first 6 kW of a system, and$100 per kW for the next 19 kW of a system. For example, a 15 kW system is eligible for a $2,400 (= ($250 * 6 kW) + ($100 * 9 kW)) incentive. For non-taxable entities, Holy Cross will provide an incentive equal to 40% of the installed cost of a system (on a $ per KW basis) up to $500 per kW for the first 25 kW installed at a site. Energy storage systems serviced under a time-of-use rate are eligible for an incentive of $250 per kW up to 25 kW or $100/kWh, whichever is less; systems that are enrolled in the Distribution Flexibility Program are eligible for an incentive of $500 per kW up to 25 kW.TermsA customer must submit a Generator Interconnection Application to Holy Cross Energy prior to installation. Incentives are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Generation must be sized to supply no more than 120% of their previous 12 months electrical consumption. For new construction, Holy Cross will estimate on-site electrical consumption and specify a maximum allowable system size. No member may receive more than $30,000 in a 12 month period for renewable generation ownership; no member can receive more than $12,500 in a 12 month period for energy storage ownership (for renewable generation + storage the total limit is thus $45,000). No incentive payment may exceed 40% of the installed cost of any project. A consumer’s generation facilities must be connected to Holy Cross’s electric distribution system to qualify for incentives.
